How to Care For Your Swedish Dishcloth
Share
We love our Swedish dishcloths! These mighty little towels seem papery and dry at first glance, but when run under water, they become an absorbent cloth that soaks up everything. If you're a serial paper towel user for wiping up spills and messes, Swedish dishcloths make the perfect replacement. You can use them for dishes or for daily cleaning around the house! Although these little cloths are compostable, here are some tips to help extend their life.
Hang Your Swedish Dishcloth to Dry
In between use, it's important to hang your dishcloth to fully dry out. Keeping it wet all the time will break down the fibers faster. Let it air dry fully by laying it flat so it doesn't harbor bacteria. We hang ours over the sink when we're not using it.
Give your Dishcloth a Wash
To give your cloth a refresh, pop it in the washing machine or the top rack of your dishwasher once a week or after a messy cleanup. Dishcloths can also be sterilized by soaking in boiling water for 1 minute, or microwaving damp for 30 seconds.
Know When It's Time For a New One
These cloths sadly don't last forever, but that's why we love them! They're meant to eventually break down and become one with the Earth again. You can cut up your cloth into small pieces and throw them in your compost. You'll know when that time comes when your cloth is falling apart or feels grimy even after cleaning it. We will be here when you're ready for a new one (;
